he Loop, a $12.5 million mixed-use project in downtown Isla Vista, is opening this summer, in time for the new school year.
The four-story infiII project is being developed by Santa Barbara-based Mesa Lane Partners and will provide housing for up to 140 UC Santa Barbara students and faculty, and three retail businesses. The project is located at 6533-6539 Trigo Road and has already garnered several honors for environmentally friendly design. It’s on track for LEED gold or platinum certification.
“It’s a high-visibility corner. We’re redeveloping a brownfield. It’s a sustainable project providing affordable housing and commercial space. All of these things mean it’s good for business, good for the environment, good for the community,” Mesa Lane partner Neil Dipaola told me last year.
Along with the first influx of new housing in UCSB’s Student community in quite some time, the Loop includes three retail spaces on the ground floor, two of which will be occupied by Pizza My Heart and Crushcakes Cafe.
One remaining space of 2,751 square feet is available for lease and is being marketed by Hayes Commercial Group.
